Branding & Website Design

Working with Alex on this project was quite fun. She gave me design freedom to come up with what I felt would represent her and her brand... below you can see what she picked and her branding.

She's a fibre artist who hand-embroiders custom pet portraits. They are adorable and she's developed quite a following on instagram all from her doing her own little portrait of her cat Banjo. She's been commissioning pet portraits for people ever since with increasing popularity!

From start to finish her brand board was fun and right up my alley. Clean and minimal with fine lines, outlines, minimal white and black with a touch of colour. She wanted her branding to be fun, simple and to have a website that was clean & minimal and easy to navigate, so much so that even your grandmother could find her way around!

Her logo was inspired by the way that she started finishing off her pet portraits, with vines around the pet. She has since eliminated the vines from her work but they will live on in her logo!

For her business cards it was important to showcase her work. And we utilized the printfinity option with using a variety of photos from her previous work so she would be able to have options when handing out business cards to potential clients. I love Moo Cards for this very reason as it gives artists the ability to showcase their work with their business cards.

So check out her work and if you have a pet or know of someone who does then you might find yourself in her shop purchasing your very own! It would be worth it because really who wouldn't love a hand-stitched custom portrait of their loved pet?

I love a good mood board, don't you? I have so many started so I thought I'd start sharing them with you!

Inspiration is

Even though it's spring now and I should be thinking about adding pops of colour into things, I can't help but always love this colour pallet. It's classic, clean and simple. As a staple I love these colours in my life in any season. You can do anything with these colours as a base adding a splash of any bright colour to really pop OR you can simply use these colours on their own together. In each season you can wear varying amounts.

I love to have a solid base for things in my life. Adding splashes of something different here and there when my mood changes. These colours are so versatile that they work for your wardrobe or your home decorating. That's why I love them!

Jess Crafting

Jessica has had a blog and etsy shop for a little while now but she wanted a logo and brand that represented who she is and what she does. She crafts all sorts of things, mostly crocheted items, that are fun and cute and she posts patterns for them on her blog.

When we started to work together I got her to start a pinterest board for her inspiration and immediately after looking at it I got a definite sense of what she wanted. It's fun, colourful and cute as well as minimal and simple. I had a lot of fun designing this logo and brand for Jessica and she is thrilled with the design as well! Here's a little bit of how it all came together.

She loved the colour combination right off the bat and the little hand drawn bird was her favourite! It just made sense to have that be her little logo. She loved how all her ideas seemed to come together and yet be her own style. She loved 2 main logos and has decided to use both of them on her business cards.

We set up her facebook page, etsy shop and blog with her new branding as well so that it flowed seamlessly with her brand. She loves her new logo and brand and it was such a pleasure working with her. Her creativity and gentle fun loving nature really show through this branding and that was important for this project.

Chelene Knight - Rebrand

Chelene and I had worked together last year to create a brand and wordpress website for her work. She is a writer, consultant and poet whose first book of poetry was being published just before we launched her site. After her successful book launch and once things settled down a bit, we talked about moving her site on over to SquareSpace and sprucing up her brand a bit.

Chelene Knight Brand Board

She loved the original branding as well as the look and feel of her website with wordpress. I mostly just simplified her logo and made the website really clean and minimal. She also wanted to feature photos that I took for her that will be included in her second up and coming book, Dear Current Occupant, on the front page of her new square space website.
